About you

Essentia is looking for a Sales Associate to join its US sales team, selling an Enterprise SaaS product and its accompanying services to Equity Portfolio Managers, Heads of Equity, and Allocators to equity fund managers. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years in client-facing roles

  • 3+ years of experience selling products/services to portfolio managers or investment team leaders, or selling equity funds to institutional investors

  • Proven success in closing consultative sales (where understanding the customer’s needs is key)

  • A natural interest in continuous improvement and metrics

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Strong interpersonal sensitivity

  • High confidence, tact, and awareness when explaining novel concepts to less-informed listeners

  • Strong business computing skills, including very good Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills

  • Experience using Salesforce - or the interest and aptitude to learn it

  • Experience doing web (and other) research on companies and individuals

  • Experience with cold-calling and/or calling people they’ve never met

  • Excellent spoken and written English

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working as part of a team: Partnering with a Senior Salesperson and our Sales Development Reps to target specific individuals at specific organizations with our proposition and solutions

  • Picking up sales leads generated by our Customer Development process, qualifying them through phone calls and other correspondence, and nurturing good fit leads through the buying journey

  • Proactively networking with members of our target market as well as other service providers to that market in order to generate leads, marketing, and partnership opportunities

  • Ensuring all sales opportunities are well-documented and researched, and that all sales meeting notes and follow-up points are documented and executed

  • Using Essentia’s software to demonstrate value creation and to answer questions during demos

  • Acting as the commercial account manager to clients you sign, for ongoing renewals and upsells

  • Working closely with our Customer Success team to service your clients on an ongoing basis and understand their additional needs
