About you

We are looking for a Research Operations Analyst who wishes to further their career in the world of data. Using our analytics tools, you will enjoy working with data and producing reports that are of high quality and consistent in nature. You will be keen to improve and learn new approaches and techniques to continuously improve our output. 


The position will suit someone with a passion for investment finance and who has some experience in a quantitative role. The successful candidate will be keen to learn new skills and make a noticeable impact, in a fast-moving, collegiate scale-up environment. Essentia supports the career progression of all their employees and the role could progress in many directions, depending on aptitude, client demands, and appropriate opportunities become available.



In this role, your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):


  • Working with large amounts of data to ensure consistent delivery of our analytics suite
  • Delivering reports of consistently high quality in a timely manner for client meetings
  • Assisting peers with quality control and quality assurance processes for the reports
  • Continuous improvement and development of all processes relating to the role, based on first-hand knowledge
  • Learning Python and working on customer support issues
  • Providing feedback to the Research & Product teams on streamlining and improving the reports and how they are produced 
  • Maintaining the documentation library associated with the Research Ops team
  • Understanding key client service and delivery processes in order to perform these duties when required (for example, cover for peers on annual leave)

    As a Research Operations Analyst, we don’t expect you to know everything all at once, but we do expect you to have a great attitude. We have a world-class team, and we’ll help bring you along and get you up to speed. We are looking for the following skills  and experience:
  • Disciplined and thorough in order to produce high quality, consistent work
  • Attention to detail to spot and correct output errors and inconsistencies
  • Tenacious approach to making improvements and ensuring consistency
  • An eye for the visual appeal of presentations and reports
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and orally
  • Self-motivated, keen to learn and develop your potential
  • Comfortable operating in a start-up environment (ie. without infrastructure, with an appetite for risk and able to cope with uncertainty, incomplete information, etc)
  • Able to work remotely or in central London, for extended periods of time, as required by the company


Whilst not required, the following experience will be very helpful in the role:

  • Experience in financial data and/or the financial services domain
  • Experience of Python
  • Experience with querying SQL databases.
  • Experience in data visualisation tools, especially Tableau
